FAQ

Are the effects of acupuncture symptomatic only?

Acupuncture treats not only symptoms, but treatments also target the cause of the problem. Many conditions are permanently cured, while others might need booster treatments for a period of time.

Is acupuncture painful?

Very thin needles are used for acupuncture. Insertion of the needle should be quick and painless when performed by a competent acupuncturist. After the needles are inserted, the patient usually feels some local or distant sensations. The sensations refer to the energy reaction of the body and is an indication of a good result. In some cases, the practitioner may manipulate the needles one or two times before withdrawing them, which helps to produce increased sensations for a more intense result.

Can I receive Chinese Herbal Medicine at your practice?

We have both herbal teas and tablets available at our practice. Our herbal teas have quicker and stronger effects. For tablets, we use Chinaherb®️ products, which are also available for purchase at your local health shop.

Is there any chance of contracting HIV/AIDS from acupuncture?

We only utilise single-use acupuncture needles at our practice. These needles are sterilised and sealed under international standards. All our needles are made from stainless steel and are high quality.

How do the treatments work?

Please allow about 45 minutes for the first consultation, where we find out about your medical history and your problems. If we recommend repeated treatments, please allow around half an hour. Every person reacts to treatments differently. It could be that you do not require any further treatments after one treatment, or you could be recommended repeat visits so we can monitor the changes in your body after every treatment. To allow your body to balance itself wholly, be patient and let nature take care of your body.
